FAQ
GS Consulting supports qualified professionals and employers throughout the journey towards successful professional integration in Germany.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the full process take before I can work in Germany?
There is no single timeframe. It depends on the occupation, recognition procedure, language level, availability of an employer, country of residence and visa route. GS Consulting coordinates the agreed support, but cannot control processing times of authorities, embassies or employers.
Do I already need to speak German before submitting my application?
No. You may submit your profile before reaching the final language level required for the job or procedure. GS Consulting can offer paid online German preparation tailored to your objective.
How long does it take to reach A2, B1 or B2?
It depends on your starting level, course intensity, personal study and consistency. After an assessment, a realistic learning path can be proposed. No fixed learning period is guaranteed.
Does GS Consulting issue an official language certificate?
No. GS Consulting teaches and prepares candidates. Where an official certificate is required, the exam must be taken with a certification body recognised for the relevant German procedure.
How long does the visa process take?
Processing time varies according to the visa type, responsible German mission, appointment availability and complexity of the case. GS Consulting can support preparation but does not control appointments or visa decisions.
Can some procedures be accelerated?
In certain cases an employer may check whether the fast-track procedure for skilled workers is available. Eligibility depends on the individual case and no outcome can be guaranteed.
Do I need a job offer before applying for a visa?
For several skilled-employment residence routes, a concrete job offer is an essential requirement. Other immigration routes have different rules, so the correct route must be assessed individually.
Does my qualification have to be recognised in Germany?
It depends on the profession and residence route. Regulated professions, including certain healthcare professions, are subject to specific recognition and professional-authorisation requirements. GS Consulting can guide you through the relevant steps.
What is a Defizitbescheid?
During recognition, the competent authority may identify substantial differences between a foreign qualification and the German reference qualification. The decision describes those differences and, where applicable, the compensatory measures required.
Can I work in a profession different from my original qualification?
This may be possible depending on the profession, position and immigration route. Regulated professions remain subject to specific rules. GS Consulting checks whether the proposed pathway is plausible before presenting a profile.
Is there an age limit for applying?
GS Consulting does not impose a general age limit. However, from age 45, some immigration routes can involve additional requirements such as salary or adequate pension provision. We explain these constraints before a case is started.
Can the employer finance my travel to Germany?
Travel or arrival costs may be agreed directly between the candidate and employer. GS Consulting does not guarantee such funding and does not finance airfare.
Does GS Consulting find accommodation for candidates?
No. GS Consulting does not provide a housing-search service. This boundary is communicated clearly.
Who pays for GS Consulting German courses?
GS Consulting online German courses are paid services and are paid by the candidate. Prices and conditions are communicated before enrolment.
Which other costs are paid by the candidate?
Costs are disclosed before support begins. Unless otherwise agreed, the candidate bears costs such as sworn translations, any required legalisation or authentication, recognition fees and shipment of recognition-related documents.
Can I submit a spontaneous application?
Yes. GS Consulting accepts spontaneous applications even when no matching vacancy is currently published. This does not constitute a guarantee of employment.
Does GS Consulting guarantee a job?
No. GS Consulting commits to performing the agreed services professionally, but the hiring decision belongs exclusively to the employer.
Does GS Consulting guarantee a visa or qualification recognition?
No. Visa and recognition decisions belong exclusively to the competent authorities. GS Consulting can prepare, guide and support a case but cannot guarantee a favourable administrative decision.
What support can GS Consulting provide after arrival?
With the employer’s agreement and depending on the agreed service, GS Consulting may support reception on arrival, certain administrative steps and follow-up until the employee starts work.
What happens if my visa or recognition request is refused?
Within the agreed service, GS Consulting can explain the decision and possible next steps. Whether another route is available depends on the grounds for refusal and the applicable rules.
